The term “botamochi” in the product name refers to a traditional round-shaped Japanese confectionery and is also one of the classic patterns found on Bizen ware pieces.
This pattern is created by inserting round pieces of refractory clay between each plate before firing them in the kiln. After being subjected to high temperatures, distinctive round shapes in various colors—from red to brown—appear on the covered areas. Each plate features slightly different patterns and colors, making every piece a unique work of art.
