Botamochi Side Plate
The Hozan Kiln Side Plate embodies the earthy textures and colors characteristic of Bizen ware.
Rounded pieces of refractory clay are placed between the plates before they are fired in the kiln. As the ashes do not cover these spots, a natural round ring design forms on the plate. The rounded shape resembles a traditional Japanese sweet called “botamochi,” which inspired the plate’s name. Each firing produces a unique pattern, making every piece a one-of-a-kind work of art.
Perfectly sized for a side dish, the rustic and distinctive pattern of the side plate is eye-catching and complements the fresh colors of various dishes. It is versatile enough to be used not only for Japanese cuisine but also for a wide variety of other dishes.
