This katakuchi sake carafe showcases a delicate kannyu “crackle” pattern—naturally formed fine cracks on the glaze surface during firing. By carefully balancing the clay and glaze, intricate crackles emerge on the surface. The soft pink hue is achieved using Zoho Kiln’s signature red pigment, created through three years of meticulous grinding. The fine pigment seeps into every crevice of the kannyu, and after wiping, it leaves behind a gentle, pale pink finish.
