Tri-Color Tokusa Chawanmushi Bowl
Enjoy delicious chawanmushi, Japanese steamed egg custard, in this beautiful Arita ware chawanmushi bowl.
This Chawanmushi bowl is painted in the “Tokusa (Horsetail)” pattern which is a classic motif that has been beloved since the Edo period (1603 CE – 1867 CE). Its straight-growing appearance symbolizes wishes for growth and prosperity. And the three subdued colors in a rhythmic pattern bestow an authentic warmth to the bowl.
The lid rests nicely on the bowl, and the handle on the lid makes it easy to lift. Without its lid, the bowl can also be used as a small Kobachi bowl to serve appetizers or side dishes.
Tasei Kiln aims to produce beautiful and heartwarming Arita ware that make dishes gorgeous and add color to the table. Originally, Tasei Kiln was renowned for specializing in the production of Chawanmushi bowls solely for commercial use. Today, the same refined techniques, once reserved for professionals, can now be appreciated right in your own home.
